Close enough to the hustle and bustle of Buckhead but nestled away in it’s own little corner, The Sylvan Hotel is the newest boutique accommodation in Atlanta from the ever-growing Kimpton chain. Taking notes from the design styles of yesteryear, the property is a visual feast with its variety of color palates and textures that blend together to create an atmosphere that adds a Palm Springs-meets-Atlanta flair.

With a focus on nature, greenery can be seen throughout the property from the 217 light green and wood paneled guest rooms to the slew of trees that surround the area. Each room comes equipped with a mini fridge and multiple closets. Carpeted floors and eclectic art on the guest room walls add an inviting touch to the space.

Visually, the rooms at The Sylvan are an Instagrammer’s dream, but perhaps the biggest highlight of the hotel is its food and beverage program that consists of two bars and one restaurant. The Willow Bar, the hotel’s airy ground level garden oasis focuses on sophisticated bar snacks, charcuterie and botanical-inspired cocktails, classic spirits and spritzers. The after-five crowd will appreciate The St. Julep, the buzzy rooftop bar on the ninth floor that focuses on quirky cocktails and snacks (corndog and tater tots anyone?) and offers beautiful skyline views of the city from the spacious outdoor patio. The Betty, the hotel’s “supper club” is a sexy haunt with moody lighting, rich colors and leather seating. The menu features elevated versions of classic cocktails and entrees. All of the establishments require masks and social distancing with face coverings available for guests if needed.

After a year of limited travel, The Sylvan is a much welcomed property for those traveling to Atlanta or locals simply seeking a relaxing staycation in the city. From the homey fireplace in the lobby aka the “living room” to the bold art choices scattered throughout the property, lovers of sleek interior design will truly appreciate the attention to detail and aesthetics of the hotel.

The Sylvan also has a pool, an elegant conference room that can also serve as a private dining area for guests and plenty of cozy nooks and corners to relax in. Overall, The property’s attentive service, impeccable design and prime location make The Sylvan the perfect escape.

Is The Kimpton Sylvan for You? Check out a few pros and cons

Pro: Spacious rooms with flat screen TVs, refrigerator and multiple closets for storage.

Con: No iron in the room. However, each room does come with a steamer, and irons can easily be sent to the room upon request.

Pro: Lots of options for snacking and dining between the property’s multiple bars and restaurant.

Con: No microwave in the room to heat up the delicious leftovers!

Pro: Pack n Plays available for those traveling with babies/toddlers.

Con: Unless your child has a sophisticated palate, the menu doesn’t particularly cater to the taste buds of the average kid. Don’t let this deter you from bringing your child! Just pack extra snacks for your little one!
